The exhibition design is built on modular timber "building blocks," and the top structure is made from reclaimed panel materials. Screen walls of angled slats create sightlines in specific directions while concealing others. Glass tops are placed on some of the timber blocks, adding lightness and transparency to the construction. Certain objects are displayed on shelving built using the same construction principle as the plinths, giving the design a consistent structural language throughout.
The exhibition was developed through a series of scale-model studies. Plinths appear in three heights, used both as freestanding elements and stacked, creating variation across several levels. All elements are painted in a warm grey, except for the section on the Paimio Sanatorium, which uses the specific yellow associated with that project.
The exhibition is located in one of the barn structures that make up Vandalorum museum, designed by Renzo Piano.
